In acute candidemia, plasma gelsolin lowers kidney and lung inflammation, reduces fungal CFUs, and limits tissue injury. Human monocytes treated with plasma gelsolin show increased fungal engagement, enhanced phagocytosis, and reduced intracellular Candida survival. Reactive radical production shifts toward nitric oxide, supporting host‑directed antifungal defense.
