Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Acinetobacter and Resistance-Associated Genomic Features in Urban Wastewater Systems

1 min read

A longitudinal study of an urban wastewater network combined droplet digital polymerase chain reaction and metagenomic sequencing to examine Acinetobacter populations. Although wastewater treatment reduced concentrations by nearly three orders of magnitude, the bacterium remained prevalent in treated effluent and correlated strongly with antibiotic resistance gene levels, highlighting its value as a resistome indicator.
